Hello Watercolor | Navigating the Blog

River Rocks - Banner mini.jpg

Come on in, the water’s fine!

As some of you may already know, I often stream my watercolor art on Twitch. These live sessions are but casual affairs, of course.

Still, I have come to realize that my experience, if properly ordered, may be of help to you!

Perhaps you are new to this medium looking for advice rounding out a palette, perhaps you are simply here to see some behind the scenes content of my art, perhaps you are interested in some advanced tips and quirks I use, or perhaps you’d just like another artist’s take on certain art supplies and color mixes. Either way, all are welcome in this watercolor gang, and I am also eager to learn from all of you as well! (so feel free to chime in via comments with your personal experiences, especially if they are different from mine! )

Here are the main categories blog posts will consist of, I already have at least 1 post planned for each:

  • Walkthroughs — These will be a close up look of a painting, detailing my process and color choices during each stage

  • Reviews — As the title suggests, I shall be taking a look at paints, papers, ink, colored pencil… Anything that can enter an artists’ studio!

  • Pigments — This is a color theory based close up review of a paint color, I will swatch, mix, and paint a piece with the color. I will also discuss uses, paint properties, viable alternatives*, as well as talk about complementary colors to use with.

  • Guides — I plan to include both beginner friendly explanations of established techniques, as well as more advanced methods, tips, and exercises to get to know your palette better.

  • Meta — Posts that are about me, or posts that are about this blog… like this one!

I will make sure this page stays updated always so it can stay as a navigating tool

*art is such a personal journey to everyone: style, habit, local availability and budget… All of these can easily impact what paints you buy, and of course how you organize and use them! I put a star here because I feel color does not exist in a vacuum, all colors are only as relevant as they can relate to each other. This is sort of my pledge to make sure any color I talk about can become helpful to you by the colors they are similar to or complements well with!
